Just 45 minutes northwest of the Strip, the Spring Mountains rise around the 3.632-meter-high Charleston Peak. The drive takes you from the desert through juniper groves and up into fragrant pine forests.

In summer, the mountain is the most popular escape from the heat: hiking routes such as the Mary Jane Falls Trail lead to waterfalls and viewpoints while temperatures in the valley exceed 40 degrees Celsius.

In winter, Lee Canyon turns into a Nevada ski destination – skiing and snowboarding with desert views, a surreal experience.
